Adventures in South America

Year 6 Session 2 Week 4

‍

Last week was full of fun, creativity, and hands-on learning for our heroes!

‍

In Art, we were inspired by the incredible life and work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Learners explored her story and unique style, then began working on their own portraits of Frida. The focus, detail, and color in their artwork are already shining through—we can’t wait to see the finished pieces!

‍

One of the biggest highlights of the week came on Wednesday, when we took a field trip to Chapple Farms! Since we’ve been studying South American animals, it was the perfect chance to see some of them up close. Heroes got to feed and pet capybaras, cavies, emus, alpacas, and many other amazing creatures. It was a hands-on experience that brought our learning to life!

‍

In PE, Annabeth used her martial arts training to lead stretches for everyone! Afterwards, we got moving with some exciting animal relay races. Each learner chose an animal and had to cross the dojang moving like that animal—there was lots of hopping, crawling, and even some slithering! We also played a team game that had everyone hopping through hoops and facing off in rock-paper-scissors challenges to get to the other side.

‍

During free time, our learners got creative and built a giant blanket fort in the studio. It became a cozy space for reading, relaxing, and imaginative play.

‍

To end the week, Fun Friday brought laughter and movement as several of our Elementary Studio learners joined in for a lively round of Just Dance. It was the perfect way to celebrate a week full of discovery and connection.

‍

We’re already looking forward to the next adventure!
