Year 6 Session 1 Week 3
From Silent Games to Speeches: Highlights from This Week
This week at our studio was full of collaboration, creativity, and connection as we explored new ways to build our community and express ourselves.
We kicked off the week with some exciting team-building challenges, starting with Silent Line-Up. In this activity, learners had to arrange themselves in a secret order—but without using words! It was a fun (and funny) challenge that sparked lots of creativity and nonverbal communication as they gestured, pointed, and used body language to figure it out together.
Next up was a communication game that tested our listening and describing skills. One learner was shown a mystery image and had to explain it to the rest of the group—without anyone else seeing it. The group then had to draw what they heard. The results were both impressive and hilarious, showing just how tricky (and important) clear communication can be.
On the creative front, learners began an art project inspired by traditional Spanish tiles. Each artist designed their own unique pattern. These beautiful designs will later be modge podged onto trinket boxes—a perfect blend of art and function.
We also hosted our first Parent Coffee Morning of the year! Families gathered to observe our morning Socratic discussions and enjoy a special treat—coffee with a delicious Spanish cake baked by our Little Heroes. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Finally, our studio got a taste of democracy with Council Elections! Learners wrote and delivered persuasive speeches before the entire studio cast their votes. It was inspiring to see so many passionate voices stepping up as leaders. Congrats to our first council members of the year - Mallory, Annalise, and Eden!
We’re so proud of the way our learners showed teamwork, creativity, and courage this week. Stay tuned for more adventures ahead!
