Session 4 Week 1 Year 6
This past week at school was filled with creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning as our heroes wrapped up November and stepped into a flurry of new adventures. One of the biggest highlights was launching our Colonial Acton Quest. The learners were surprised by a visit from “King George,” who arrived with dramatic flair to issue new proclamations and taxes the heroes were suddenly expected to follow. This immersive experience gives them just a taste of what real colonists felt as tensions rose before the American Revolution. Through role-play, our learners are beginning to understand how frustration, unfairness, and a desire for independence fueled the colonists’ rebellion.

They are also learning more about colonial life through experiences like making butter! The heroes made butter from heavy whipping cream and got to try it with crackers. They said it was delicious!

In Art, the studio buzzed with excitement as heroes began working on a special Christmas project—beautiful, handmade gifts they will proudly present to their parents. The creativity and care going into these pieces have been wonderful to see.

During Writer’s Workshop, learners started crafting persuasive pitches for field trips they want to go on. From adventurous outdoor excursions to visits to fascinating landmarks, they are learning how to use strong reasoning, clear details, and convincing arguments to get others on board with their ideas.
In PE, Gypsy-Rose stepped into a leadership role by guiding the group through warm-up stretches. The class then jumped into energetic rounds of Polar Bears and Penguins followed by fast-paced animal relay races that kept everyone moving and laughing.

Cooking class brought a delicious taste of France as learners made buttery croissants topped with cream cheese and berries. And to finish off the week, Fun Friday featured a cozy classroom showing of Ratatouille, perfectly tying together our French culinary theme.

It was a week full of learning, leadership, and joy—one that reminded us how powerful hands-on experiences can be.
