Learning Through Adventures

Year 7 Session 1 Weeks 3-5

The last few weeks at school have been filled with exciting experiences, creative adventures, and plenty of opportunities for our heroes to learn, grow, and work together!

One of our biggest highlights was finishing our Lip Dub video! Our learners chose “All Star” by Smash Mouth, and the final result turned out great! It was wonderful to see everyone come together, share their enthusiasm, and contribute to a fun project that celebrated our school community.

We also took a trip to Norway through a special cooking experience led by Ms. West! Our heroes rolled up their sleeves to prepare traditional Norwegian treats, including Skolebrød and Norwegian meatballs. Along the way, they learned several Norwegian words and had the chance to try lingonberry jam for the very first time. It was a delicious and engaging way to explore another culture through food, language, and hands-on learning!

Our outdoor adventures continued with an exciting field trip to Timbernook. The learners had the freedom to let their imaginations run wild as they explored creative outdoor play. From building swings and forts to creating ziplines, our heroes embraced the opportunity to experiment, problem-solve, take risks, and collaborate with one another. It was amazing to see their creativity and teamwork come to life in the great outdoors!

To wrap up the session, we hosted our first Exhibition, and it was a fantastic way to celebrate everything our heroes have been working on. Parents and special guests joined us and even participated in some of the team-building games our learners experienced during Build the Tribe. Their involvement made the event even more meaningful and gave everyone a chance to connect, collaborate, and have fun together.

As we look back on these past few weeks, we are so proud of our heroes and all they have accomplished. From creative projects and cultural discoveries to outdoor exploration and community building, these experiences have reminded us that some of the best learning happens when we work together, try new things, and embrace every adventure!
