Year 6 Session 7 Weeks 1 & 2
The past two weeks at school have been full of energy, creativity, and new beginnings as we launched our final session of the year—Session 7. This session’s quest, Growing Curiosity, is all about exploration, leadership, and discovering new interests. From the very start, learners have embraced the opportunity to follow their passions. Some have jumped into independent passion projects, while four of our oldest heroes have taken on the exciting challenge of preparing and leading their own mini quests.
These mini quests will take place over three days each and are entirely designed by the learners themselves. From writing their own engaging launches to leading thoughtful Socratic discussions, these heroes are stepping into true leadership roles. They are also creating meaningful challenges for their peers, giving everyone a chance to engage, collaborate, and grow. Growing Curiosity is already living up to its name by encouraging learners to try new things and spark new interests.

We kicked things off with Eden leading the very first mini quest, centered around sculpting. Her focus on realism and texture challenged the heroes to carefully observe and recreate food using sculpting materials. The results were both impressive and inspiring, showcasing creativity and attention to detail.

In Writer’s Workshop, our Elementary School heroes have begun crafting their own fiction stories using the website Storybird. They are diving into creativity while developing narratives that follow a Hero’s Journey, bringing their ideas to life through imaginative storytelling.
The Little Heroes enjoyed exploring fiction by reading their books during DEAR!

Meanwhile, in art, we continued our “Inside Out” series. Learners are painting and drawing characters from the movie while reflecting on the emotions each one represents and how those feelings show up in their own lives.

We wrapped up the week with a memorable Fun Friday. The day began with a field trip to see Mrs. Molley perform in the ballet Rapunzel, followed by a picnic lunch outside the River Center. Back at school, the fun continued with games both indoors and outdoors—a perfect ending to two wonderful weeks of learning and growth.
