Session 3, Week 2, Year 6
This week was full of curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery! In our ongoing entomology quest, our caterpillars reached an exciting milestone — they made their cocoons! Now we’re eagerly waiting for them to transform into butterflies. To deepen our understanding of insects, we ventured outside with our journals to observe the different species living right here on campus. Inspired by what we found, learners even designed their own imaginary bugs, complete with unique features and habitats, and began planning ideas for a future butterfly garden to help local pollinators thrive.

In Art, our heroes took their creativity outdoors once again. After choosing a favorite insect to study, they practiced sketching it from different angles and then brought their ideas to life using colorful pipe cleaners. The results were as imaginative as they were impressive!

Meanwhile, in Civilization discussions, we journeyed back in time to explore the worlds of knights and samurai warriors. Learners compared what life was like in these societies and examined how the feudal system shaped their daily experiences, values, and traditions.

Last week’s “Parent Coffee” focused on the importance of sleep, and our Elementary Studio heroes took the message to heart by participating in a Sleep Challenge. Their goal was to get at least nine hours of sleep for four out of five nights. They tracked their hours and reflected on how extra rest affected their energy, mood, and focus — with many reporting positive results!

To wrap up the week on a delicious note, Mrs. Molley led a cooking activity where learners made Irish potato bread topped with cinnamon sugar. The smell of fresh bread filled the air — a perfect ending to a wonderful week of learning and growth!
